Did you say straight 3D on a browser would take long?
Simple x3d cube scene using a X3Dom script (Javascript) for WebGL compatible browsers. The cube x3D code, made by vivaty studio and pasted in a web page inside a x3d tag, is rendering directly on the browser without any external x3D plugin.
(Mozilla firefox with WebGL support is needed, or another WebGL compatible browser. More info on browsers here)
